An actor and actress onstage during a performance with a strong spotlight and dark background.

Join us and the School of Performance Arts for Happy Wright.

Deborah Butterfield: A Lifetime of Horses

A picture of Deborah Butterfield's Lumen scuplture. It is a scuplture in the shape of a horse, constructed from branches and sticks to develop the sculpture's form.

Come see Lumen - a new addition from Deborah Butterfield

Over the course of her long career, Butterfield has returned over and over to images of horses and has created them from all kinds of materials, including scrap metal and discarded auto parts. New to the Ulrich's Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection, Deborah Butterfield's Lumen is a beautiful piece from a body of work that the artist has been expanding since the mid-1970s.

Lumen is only of over 81 works in the Ulrich's Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection:

  • A photo of the Rigoletto statue from farther away. There is strong lighting above the statue pointing directly downwards, casting strong shadows. The statue is of a man with a large beard wearing a hooded cape with the cape adorning the statue's head.
  • Two people standing in front of the Rigoletto statue looking at it. One is an adult man and the other is a young girl. The Rigoletto statue is clearly visible between the two figures.
