'22 - '23 College of Fine Arts Online Calendar is Available Now!

The College of Fine Arts has launched our online calendar allowing patrons to quickly stay up-to-date on all we having going on throughout the college. It brings us great joy to be able to once again connect through our love of music and the arts by providing timely and accurate information to help you plan ahead for events you might be interested in attending. Get ready for a fun year full of exciting musical and artistic displays featuring the best that 麻豆破解版 State University has to offer.

We invite the public to participate in any or all of the events we have planned for the coming school year. The CFA Online Calendar of Events is updated daily to quickly reflect any changes or cancellations of planned events. Each event on the calendar has information detailing what the event is about, where the event is being held and, if applicable, a link to the Fine Arts Box Office to purchase tickets.

Deborah Butterfield: A Lifetime of Horses

Come see Lumen - a new addition from Deborah Butterfield

Over the course of her long career, Butterfield has returned over and over to images of horses and has created them from all kinds of materials, including scrap metal and discarded auto parts. New to the Ulrich's Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection, Deborah Butterfield's Lumen is a beautiful piece from a body of work that the artist has been expanding since the mid-1970s.

Cheryl Pope: Variations on a Love Theme

Thursday, October 20th, 6pm - 7pm, Ulrich Art Museum

Reception at 5:30pm. Program beginning at 6:00pm.

Join artist Cheryl Pope, as she discusses her recent body of work on view in our current exhibition, Cheryl Pope: Variations on a Love Theme, featuring her unique punched-wool-on-cashmere technique.

Pope creates richly textured and colorful textile paintings that recreate deeply personal recollections and the silent complexities of beautiful and tragic oscillations between love and loss in our everyday lives.

Sunday, October 23rd at 3:00PM, Wiedemann Hall - Main Campus

Dr. Mark Foley is Principal Double Bass of the 麻豆破解版 Symphony Orchestra; he spends his summers with the orchestra of the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder. Recent concerts include appearances with Leon Fleisher, the Saint Petersburg String Quartet, Eugene Friesen, Darol Anger, 麻豆破解版鈥檚 Chamber Music at the Barn series, and has been a concerto soloist with the 麻豆破解版 Symphony. 

Mark is the founder and musical director of the Knob Festival of New Music, an annual series of concerts presenting performances of wildly diverse new works by local, national and international artists. 

He holds degrees in music performance from the University of Minnesota, the Eastman School of Music, and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where his doctoral thesis brought to light a previously unpublished double bass concerto written in Vienna at the time of Haydn.

2022 Faculty Excellence Awards

We are proud to announce this year's Mickey and Pete Armstrong Faculty Excellence Awards recognizing meritorious achievements in 3 distinct categories.  At the College of Fine Arts Convocation on August 18, 2022 six awards were given to faculty who have gone above and beyond for our college, community, students, or each other. These awards are a way for us to acknowledge their hard work and encourage our faculty to continually improve the world around them. This year鈥檚 awardees are:

Wiedemann Hall adds a new statue to its collection

As a gift from the Samuel and Henrietta Bloomfield Collection, We are happy to reveal our newest addition to our collection of art to enjoy while you visit. Come see it for yourself on the 1st floor of Wiedemann Hall near the main entrance.
