Transmissions: The XXIV Faculty Biennial

The Faculty Biennial is a venerable tradition on the WSU campus and the longest-running series of exhibitions at the Ulrich Museum. The Biennial represents the breadth of creative work and research being undertaken by the faculty of the School of Art, Design and Creative Industries (ADCI).

The Biennial鈥檚 theme, Transmissions, seeks to prompt reflections and start conversations about the altered creative landscape in which artists and educators, like the rest of us, find themselves in the wake of nearly three years of disruptions and changes. Making art in response to global paradigm shifts has set new challenges and opened new pathways for creative reflection.

Check out some of the work that will be showcased during this show below. Transmissions will be on display from January 26th to April 22nd.

 

 

 

Ulrich Spring Exhibits Opening Soon

THe Ulrich Museum of Art will open their spring art exhibitions starting on Jan. 26 and open until April 22. Make sure to stop to enjoy art from Japan and China in the exhibition Nature in the Floating World: Images of Nature in Japanese and Chinese Art, which is from the Ulrich Collection and The Boat People by Tuan Andrew Nguyen. There will be an opening celebration for these two shows and for Transmissions, mentioned above, on Jan. 26 from 5 - 8pm. Please come join your fellow artists and art enthusiasts for a evening of celebration and appreciation of these amazing pieces of art.

Concerto-Aria Honors Concert

Come enjoy the talent of some of our most remarkable soloists as they perform various excerpts of concertos and arias with the WSU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Mark Laycock, behind them. This musical performance shows the best musicians that the School of Music has to offer. Make sure to put this one in your calendar, you won't want to miss it!

School of Performing Arts presents Pippin

A young person is struggling with mental health issues and contemplating suicide. After an overdose, they hallucinate a story with characters in their "real world" becoming characters in a dream. This young person becomes "Pippin," the heir to the Frankish throne. In the hallucination and the dream is the quest to find meaning in life. This performance is rated PG-13 for sexual content and drug use.
