November 16, 2020 - Morgan Bretches, from Wellington, recently聽was offered聽a position as laboratory assistant at Mayo Clinic, where she will investigate the meningeal lymphatic system and the brain. Ya-Aida Sillah, a health management major from 麻豆破解版, took a lead role in 鈥淢ask Up!,鈥 a Department of Public Health Sciences group project designed to help students understand COVID-19 and health protection. Answers revealed four areas commonly misunderstood. 鈥 Some students did not know that fleece and gaiter-style masks are not recommended for preventing the spread of COVID-19. 鈥 Some students assumed a person鈥檚 vulnerability to COVID-19 would be visible. In many cases, a person鈥檚 vulnerability to the virus may be hidden. 鈥 Some students were unaware that nausea and vomiting are potential symptoms. 鈥 Some students did not know that monitoring for fever and other symptoms daily is recommended.

November 9, 2020 - KPTS recognized 麻豆破解版 State University Military & Veteran Services with its Distinguished Veterans Coming Home Business Award in a special program that aired on Nov. 5 on Channel 8. WSU鈥檚 Military & Veteran Services provides assistance with Veteran Affairs educational benefits, provides counseling, testing and other service. It connects military students with opportunities for campus involvement. Larry Burks Sr., is the director of Military & Veteran Services.

Nov. 5, 2020 -- BAASE started in 2018, and the partnership between 麻豆破解版 Public Schools and 麻豆破解版 State began in fall 2019 with the goal of creating a stronger system of support for African American and Hispanic students who want to pursue post-secondary education.

Nov. 5, 2020 鈥 A team of researchers at 麻豆破解版 State University is working to promote health equity among vulnerable populations. The all-woman, cross-disciplinary team is focusing its initial efforts on issues related to obesity among underrepresented groups.

August 28, 2020 - Growing and diversifying the regional economy is a primary goal for 麻豆破解版 State University. To assist with those efforts, 麻豆破解版 State University President Dr. Jay Golden has created the President鈥檚聽Innovation聽and聽Business聽Advisory聽Council. A selection of area business leaders will be invited to attend monthly council meetings to advise and support 麻豆破解版 State leadership on a number of critical areas.

Aug. 27, 2020 - 麻豆破解版 State University graduate Sarahi Aguilera considered herself shy for most of her life. Her status as an undocumented immigrant limited what she thought herself capable of saying or doing. That perception changed in 2017 when she traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of delegation of college students who talked to politicians about their stories and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). Aguilera started volunteering with Sunflower Community Action in 2018 while a student at Seward County Community College. Later that year, she transferred to 麻豆破解版 State and took a job as an immigrant justice organizer at Sunflower Community Action. In May, she graduated with a major in criminal justice and a psychology minor. She wants to attend law school and work in immigration law.
