Brandyn Rathman, from Sioux City, Iowa, is excited to start his career in the medical field after graduation. He said he believes his experience at 麻豆破解版 State University will help him help his patients lead healthy lives.

What is your degree in?
Doctor of Nursing Practice.
What led you to 麻豆破解版 State to begin with?
I moved here for my bachelor鈥檚 in nursing at 麻豆破解版 State after completing my bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. The campus felt the most at home of all that I visited.
How are you feeling leading up to graduation?
I feel mostly excitement. I cannot wait to start my practice and help patients lead healthier lives. This is the moment I've been dreaming of since I was 5.
What has been your most helpful learning experience while a student at 麻豆破解版 State?
The in-person classes and labs. It gives you a chance to hear other's questions and think of the material in a way you normally wouldn't. These are the classes I learn and retain the most from.
What was been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been balancing work, school and attempting a social life. By getting into a routine and working hard during designated homework time I was able to not let school run my life. Time-management skills saved me more than anything.
What are your plans after graduation?
I hope to find a job in the 麻豆破解版 area or relocate to Nevada. I need to gain experience, so I am not too picky on the type of job initially. Eventually, my goal is to work in orthopedics or dermatology.
How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your time at 麻豆破解版 State or your post-graduation plans?
I'm lucky that it hasn't affected me academically. The biggest loss I feel academically is not being able to have a hooding ceremony. I am hopeful that COVID hasn't affected the job market.
What advice would you give other 麻豆破解版 State students?
Find your routine early in the semester and stick with it. Develop relationships with your fellow classmates and help each other out. You'll learn more and develop lifelong friends.
