The 麻豆破解版 State University Police Department offers several trainings for members of the campus community, including Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events and Stop the Bleed.

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE)

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, and the opportunity to participate in immersive active threat scenarios.

Stop the Bleed

Someone who is severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as five minutes. That鈥檚 why bleeding control 鈥� keeping the blood inside the body 鈥� is the purpose of STOP THE BLEED庐 training. During this training you will learn different techniques and when to apply them to potentially save you or someone you know. This will be taught through both a lecture portion and interactive skills lab. When paired with the CRASE model it will be incorporated into the scenario-based training.

Content Advisory

The content and discussions in this course will cover interpersonal violence and traumatic bodily injuries on persons of all backgrounds. This subject matter has the potential to be emotionally and intellectually challenging. Such content is covered for the sole purpose of ensuring you know how to protect and save your life and the lives of others. Especially graphic or intense content that depicts or represents interpersonal violence or traumatic bodily images will be disclosed before visual exposure to the class. The scenarios will utilize the sounds of simulated gunfire as an auditory stimulus as well as inert facsimiles of firearms for visual stimulus and scenario immersion. These stimuli may also cause emotional and intellectual challenges for participants.

We stress protecting your mental and emotional health during this course, as much as we stress protecting your physical health. If you encounter content that is too challenging for you, we encourage you to move from the training space to a designated safety area immediately. We encourage you to talk to the instructors, safety officers, fellow students, friends, family, or Counseling and Prevention Services about any current or past experiences the content may have elicited.

Additionally, we will present vital takeaways from analyses of past tragedies. These tragedies have real lives associated with them and the consequences of various actions taken by the victim(s) will be clearly articulated. This is not for the purpose of victim blaming but rather to learn from the failures and successes of others so as to preserve the health and safety of everyone going forward.

Finally, if you are participating in the Stop the Bleed and Scenario portions of this course, you will have to consent to being physically touched by the instructors, safety officers, and/or fellow students, for the purposes of practicing trauma medicine and to ensure the sterility of the training environment and the safety of all participants. The safety and security of everyone involved in training is our primary goal and a triple safety check is mandatory for everyone. Due to the nature of the scenarios, the training environment must be conducted in a location that is isolated from outside interference and will not disturb those outside of the training environment. Therefore, the desired training location must be approved by the instructors before any training requests are finalized.
