Oct. 30. 2020 鈥 A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 麻豆破解版 State University is using artificial intelligence and big data to digitally transform the way communities predict and respond to natural disasters.

Oct. 28, 2020 - Tyler Pennick, director of videography for 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 Office of Strategic Communications, created a documentary about WuShock in bronze. After two years of development, the documentary was accepted into the Tallgrass Film Festival and awarded for its success.

Oct. 14, 2020 --聽The Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) voted today to appoint 麻豆破解版 State University (WSU) Provost Richard Muma as interim president of WSU. Dr. Muma has been serving as acting president since September 25 and will begin serving as interim president immediately.

Sept. 23, 2020 - Darren Defrain is the social professor of English and director of the writing program at 麻豆破解版 State. Defrain has written novels, memoirs and essays, created a graphic novel, teaches on graphic novels/storytelling and is actively working on a graphic novel app.

Sept. 18, 2020 - In July, Emily Christensen spent five days on Zoom participating in the National Critics Institute, a program of the Eugene O鈥橬eill Theater Center in Waterford, Conn. Christensen, coordinator of external affairs for 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 School of Art, Design and Creative Industries, wrote about food, plays, movies and dance. She, and 16 others in her group, listened to and received critiques from people such as such as Chicago Tribune theater critic Chris Jones, who directs the program, and Helen Shaw of New York Magazine.

August 28, 2020 - Growing and diversifying the regional economy is a primary goal for 麻豆破解版 State University. A selection of area business leaders will be invited to attend monthly council meetings to advise and support 麻豆破解版 State leadership on a number of critical areas.

Aug. 28, 2020 鈥 Dr. Kevin Harrison, a community engagement coordinator for 麻豆破解版 State, launched the Breathe project, which he says 鈥渋s an attempt to use art as means of addressing social injustice and racial stereotypes.鈥

Aug. 27, 2020 - 麻豆破解版 State University graduate Sarahi Aguilera considered herself shy for most of her life. Her status as an undocumented immigrant limited what she thought herself capable of saying or doing. That perception changed in 2017 when she traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of delegation of college students who talked to politicians about their stories and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). Aguilera started volunteering with Sunflower Community Action in 2018 while a student at Seward County Community College. Later that year, she transferred to 麻豆破解版 State and took a job as an immigrant justice organizer at Sunflower Community Action. In May, she graduated with a major in criminal justice and a psychology minor. She wants to attend law school and work in immigration law.

Aug. 26, 2020 鈥 麻豆破解版 State University has been named a founding member of a newly formed AI Institute for Foundations of Machine Learning (IFML), established by a $20 million grant from the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Joel Suss teaches cognitive skills training for improving police decision-making.

August 25, 2020 - Dr. Joel Suss is an assistant professor in psychology and the director of ACE at 麻豆破解版 State University. For the past five years, the ACE lab has focused its study on law enforcement.
