Our educational priority is developing socially responsible citizens through purposeful opportunities designed to support personal engagement and the shaping of inclusive communities at WSU and beyond. Below is information on the Learning Outcomes we have established as a part of our Residential Curriculum.

 

Learning Outcomes for First-Year Residents
  1. Self-Discovery
    1. Residents will be able to explain 1 aspect of their personal identity
    2. Residents will be able compare 2 or more possible majors
    3. Residents will be able to recognize 3 areas of growth within themselves
  1. Life Skills
    1. Residents will be able to define what 鈥渃lean鈥 means to them and what aspects they are willing to compromise on
    2. Residents will be able recognize that conflict can be positive
    3. Residents will be able reflect on how their choices impact themselves
  1. Community Engagement
    1. Residents will be able to identify 4 campus resources
    2. Residents will be able to connect to at least 1 organization
    3. Residents will be able to visit at least two professors鈥 office hours per semester
  1. Global Citizenship
    1. Residents will be able to identify what it means to be civically engaged
    2. Residents will be able to compare their own perspective to at least 2 other perspectives
    3. Residents will be able to explore two aspects of a culture that is different than their own
Learning Outcomes for Returning Residents
  1. Self-Discovery
    1. Residents will be able to analyze how their identity impacts their interactions with their fellow residents
    2. Residents will be able identify and compare 2 or more co-curricular opportunities within their chosen major
    3. Residents will be able to establish 3 goals for desired growth in themselves
  1. Life Skills
    1. Residents will be able to proactively reconcile personal standards of cleanliness with roommate鈥檚 standards of cleanliness
    2. Residents will be able to identify their conflict management style
    3. Residents will be able to reflect on how their choices impact others
  1. Community Engagement
    1. Residents will be able to utilize 2 campus resources
    2. Residents will be able to form meaningful relationships with at least 3 people
    3. Residents will be able utilize at least one academic resource
  1. Global Citizenship
    1. Residents will be able to participate in at least one civic activity
    2. Residents will be able to articulate positive aspects of perspectives that are different than their own
    3. Residents will be able to have at least 3 positive, intentional interactions with at least 5 different people from a different culture than their own.
Learning Outcomes for First-Year Residents in Living Learning Communities
