Summer 2021 Series: Campus Reintegration
Beginning on July 6, 2021, the Shocker Circles Summer 2021 Reintegration Series will be holding Circles on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the month of July, with both lunch hour and late afternoon options. Both virtual and in-person sessions have been scheduled, with discussion topics focused on employees transitioning to an in-person workplace, students and faculty returning to in-person classrooms, and special sessions for employees and students who joined Shocker Nation during 2020 and may now be coming to campus for the first time.

Summer Series Themes
The process of reintegration looks different for each department and each individual. You may be returning to campus from a remote site, or you may have been working on a campus that's just become much more crowded; you may be experiencing this transition as a desk worker or a hands-on tradesperson; you may be at WSU to teach or take classes - the point is, there may be topics and concerns around reintegration that you want to share based on the way it has impacted you.
Full House: Transitioning from remote work to in-person work
Hundreds of remote employees began reporting to campus on June 1, many of whom had not been to their normal worksite in over a year. While those employees are adjusting to life with commutes and officemates again, employees who had been working on campus for longer came to work on June 1 to a much more crowded campus. Regardless of which side of this transition you're on, there can be no arguing that it's been an adjustment for everyone. Join these Circles where we acknowledge and discuss the difficulties of this transition. Anything from missing our pets and long lines in the food court to health concerns and parking congestion is safe to be discussed here. All are welcome, although some folks may find a particularly meaningful discussion here:
- Any staff or faculty member
- Student employees and graduate student assistants
Coming Offline: Returning to the classroom
Thousands of WSU students and faculty made an abrupt transition to online learning in 2020, and while some have thrived, others have struggled. Join these Circles to discuss your experience as a remote teacher or student, what you鈥檝e learned, and how you鈥檙e preparing to return to an in-person classroom experience. If you've already begun teaching or attending classes in-person, join these Circles to share your transition story with others. All are welcome, although some folks may find a particularly meaningful discussion here:
- Students whose Spring 2020 courses went virtual
- Students who took online or hybrid courses during the 2020-2021 academic year
- Students who opted to take time off to avoid online and hybrid courses
- Faculty
New, Only Not: Welcoming New Employees and Students from 2020
Throughout 2020, most University operations continued as usual, including hiring of employees and enrollment of new students. For some of these recent additions to Shocker Nation, June 1 may feel like the first day of school all over again! Join these Circles to share your experience as a remote newbie, and network with other 鈥渘ew kids鈥 as long-time Shockers share their experiences. All are welcome, although some folks may find a particularly meaningful discussion here:
- Staff and faculty employees hired from April 2020 through May 2021
- Students first enrolled in Spring 2020, Summer 2020, Fall 2020, or Spring 2021
- Staff and faculty employees with close colleagues hired remotely April 2020 through May 2021
