September 17:  Founder's Day

We will again participate in WSU鈥檚 Founders鈥� Day of Giving to be held on Tuesday, September 17!  It is a 24-hour philanthropic event to raise monies for departments and organizations across campus.

Why are we participating?  WWSU鈥檚 mission is to raise funds for scholarships to WSU students.  Annually we provide two $2,000 scholarships.  Click this link to donate!  Women of WSU Scholarships (idonate.com)

Who can donate?  All of Shocker Nation, from alumni, students, and employees to parents and friends of the university.  Let鈥檚 involve many of our members this year!

In 2023, our first year to participate, we raised $955 from 17 donors.  This year our goal is $1,000, that is enough to cover one semester of one scholarship we award!  We plan to raise additional funds from our two Bingo fundraising events.

Why am I donating? 

I love being a member of Women of 麻豆破解版 State for the social aspects and the scholarships. The lunches and other events we host help me connect with folks from other departments, which actually helps my job! As a library employee and advocate, it is important for me to engage with readers and researchers and talk about the WSU and 麻豆破解版 Public libraries collections and services. Even if I don鈥檛 talk about libraries at WWSU events, I hope my presence helps members know they can turn to me for answers to library questions. It is also helpful to learn what other people do on campus in my position as a reference librarian. Students often talk to reference librarians about a variety of problems and concerns. I鈥檓 also proud that WWSU provides some financial support for students.

Students need more help now more than ever to complete their education.  As chair of WWSU鈥檚  scholarship committee for the last two years, it saddens me to see the position the students find themselves in financially to complete their education, I want to see our organization help more students so they can become successful.  They are our future.

Scholarships are extremely important to WSU students today so they can concentrate on their education and do so without working a lot of hours. I love hearing the students鈥� story and gratitude which makes it worth our fundraising efforts.  

Membership also builds relationship with other women associated with WSU.

Open to the WSU Community!  We are offering four games, you may purchase up to three cards per game.  Each card is $5.00, and proceeds will go to our scholarships.  Optional lunch avaialble for $14.00, or bring your own!
