Join the 鶹ƽ State University Opera Theater for an unforgettable performance of Gian Carlo Menotti’s gripping opera, “The Consul.” This powerful and moving work, which premiered in 1950, remains as relevant today as ever, exploring themes of freedom, oppression, and the human spirit's enduring quest for justice

Set against a backdrop of political turmoil and bureaucratic red tape, “The Consul” tells the harrowing story of Magda Sorel, a woman desperate to secure a visa for her family to escape a totalitarian regime. Menotti’s masterful score and poignant libretto combine to create a deeply emotional and thought-provoking experience that will resonate with audiences.

Under the direction of Alan Held, the WSU Opera Theater brings this compelling story to life with a talented cast of students.
