Potential areas for workshops, seminars, or courses
- Mathematical modelling, numerical methods.
- Numerical conformal mapping applied to the computation of potential flow over airfoils, vorticity, fracture mechanics.
- Data analytics, Bayesian statistics, optimization.
- Six Sigma methodology.
- High performance computing, Beoshock.
- Environmental issues, sustainability, and clean energy.
- Geometric modelling.
- Inverse problems, theory and computation.
- Application of field theory to materials science.
- General continuum mechanics.
- Applications of machine learning to multiscale modelling of materials, turbulent flow, damage tolerance, homogenization for composites.
It should be noted that WSU has recently begun offering a data analytics program and has access to high performance computing.
Federal funding will be sought, such as a National Science Foundation GOALI grant. Serious involvement by a faculty member will involve release time from teaching duties.
