Graduate CertificateEconomic Development

Effective Fall 2019 the Hugo Wall School revised the course requirements for our certificate programs. The requirements now include two courses that are already required for the MPA and two additional courses. This change was made to simplify the structure of the certificates and ensure that the necessary courses are offered in a timely manner in both face-to-face and online formats.

As students, here is what this means for you:

If you were admitted to a certificate program for the Fall 2019 semester, you automatically fall under these new certificate rules. Moving forward, every student admitted to the program will follow these requirements.

If you were admitted to the program for Summer 2019 or earlier, you can still earn your certificates under the old certificate requirements. You do not need to do anything different. Should you decide to earn your certificates under the new requirements you will need to contact your academic advisor to request that your catalog term be moved to Fall 2019. This change will allow you to follow the new certificate requirements instead of the old ones. Be aware that if you change your catalog term to Fall 2019, all certificates you plan to earn must be earned under the new requirements. You cannot earn one certificate under the new requirements and another under the old requirements.
