Multidisciplinary Education
Multidisciplinary Education helps prepare students to effectively work with people from different backgrounds, gaining advantage of diversity of thought and ideas.
Students have three options for fulfilling the multidisciplinary education criterion of Engineering+:
- Earn a minor;
- Earn a certificate outside of the primary major;
- Or, Earn a second major or double degree; or
- Or, Work on a two-semester project as part of a multidisciplinary team with student members outside of the College of Engineering.
University policy requires 3 credit hours of unduplicated coursework in each minor. To earn Engineering+ credit, the College of Engineering requires 3 credit hours of unduplicated coursework in a certificate.
Certificates and degrees earned at other institutions can satisfy this requirement, if outside of student's major area and approved by the department chair.
Who signs my approval form to verify completion of Multidisciplinary Education? Your Academic Advisor will verify successful completion of a minor or second major; they will sign after you submit the form to your department. The faculty advisor for your project, as described above, verifies the two-semester project; obtain their signature before you submit the form to your department.
