I received my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA, in May 2013, my M.Sc in Communications Systems and Signal Processing from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, in 2006, and my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, in 2004. Over the course of my Ph.D. and post-doc, I had the privilege to collaborate with Professor in Duke University, Professor in Texas A&M University, Professor in Arizona State University, Professor in University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Professor in Georgia Tech.

An updated list of my publications can be found in my Curriculum Vitae and profile.

Research Interests

Application of probabilistic methods and machine learning to study complex networks such as gene regulatory networks and networked cyber-physical systems.

Evolutionary artificial general intelligence.

Error control coding in communications, data storage, and biological systems.

Learning from big data for resilience in multi-layer interconnected networks.

Internet of things; design and analysis of wireless networks.

Ph.D. Students: I have openings for Ph.D. students with great math and writing skills. Our projects involve application of probabilistic methods, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to study complex networks such as gene regulatory networks and networked cyber-physical systems. My students enjoy a hands-on advising that prepares them for their choice of jobs in academia or industry, without worrying about funding. For a list of my group alumni and their first job after graduation, visit /academics/engineering/ECE/faculty/Eslami/index.php. To be considered, a candidate must have published at least one high-quality conference or journal paper. If interested, please email me your CV, BS and MS transcripts, a sample of your writing, and (unofficial) TOEFL and GRE scores. A speaking score of at least 23 in iBT, 7.0 in IELTS, or 50 in TSE is highly desirable. International students in top colleges of their countries are encouraged to apply.
