Exercise Science - Graduate

The Master program for Exercise Science

Prerequisites
Students seeking admission to the Master program in Exercise Science must complete the following prerequisites.

  • submit an application to the Graduate School
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution and,
  • Have a grade point average of at least 2.75 (4.0 system) in the last 60 credit hours of course work including any post-bachelor's graduate work.
  • Students selecting the program in exercise science may be required to take the following prerequisites courses or their equivalents:
    • CHEM 101: (3) Elementary Chemistry
    • BIO 223: (3) Human Anatomy and Physiology
    • HS 331: (3) Principles of Diet and Nutrition
    • HPS 328: (3) Biomechanics/Kinesiology
    • HPS 490: (3) Exercise Physiology

The Master of Education (MEd) in Exercise Science may be earned under one of three options:

  • (1) 34 hour theses option. The thesis option requires an oral examination on the research
  • (2) 36 hour internship option. Requires a written comprehensive examination.
  • (3) 36 hour coursework option. Requires a written comprehensive examination.

Program Outline
Students will move through the graduate Exercise Science program in approximately 2 years. This program will qualify students for a career as a Wellness Director, Teacher, Cardiology Technician, Exercise Gerontologist, Health Administrator, Nutritionist, Conditioning Specialist or a Personal Trainer.
