Sign up now! The National Science Foundation (NSF) is presenting a webinar on the NSF Faculty Early Career Development program (CAREER) solicitation NSF 20-525 on Wednesday, May 13.

The webinar will include a briefing on the CAREER program and key solicitation requirements followed by a question-and-answer session.

NSF CAREER applications will be due July 27, 2020. Email proposals@wichita.edu if you plan to apply, and a grants specialist will be assigned to assist you.

National Science Foundation (NSF) will require two new forms to be submitted in an NSF-approved format starting June 1, 2020

National Science Foundation (NSF) update: Upon implementation of the revised Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 20-1) on June 1, 2020, all proposals submitted on or after June 1 will be required to submit biographical sketches and current and pending support using an NSF-approved format. Proposals without these NSF approved documents will be blocked from submission.

Tuition Assistance applications for fall 2020 now being accepted

Tuition Assistance applications for fall 2020 are now being accepted through the Online Application Form. The online application will be available through July 1, and will close at the end of this application period.

The fillable PDF form will no longer be accepted. Due to the volume of applications received each semester, requests to submit late applications will be automatically denied. There will be no exceptions.

TM1 Budget System is open for FY21 requests

The TM1 Budget System is now open for FY21 changes. A training video for the budget system called 鈥淭M1 Training Video鈥� is posted in the Employee Toolbox in myWSU, under the heading "University Budget." You will not need to sign up for a class to access the training video, rather the video will be available on an ongoing basis.

The training guide is also available in the Employee Toolbox for your reference under 鈥淭M1 Training Guide鈥� along with the link to access the budget system "TM1 Fiscal Year Budget System." Please note, in order to access the TM1 system off-campus, you need an active VPN connection.

TIAA virtual meetings are available

TIAA Financial Consultants are available to help WSU participants in the Kansas Board of Regents Retirement Plan with virtual meetings to confirm they are on track for retirement, discuss market volatility and consider recommendations on how to invest their funds.   

These virtual meetings are private and secure, with only the employee and the Financial Consultant joining the virtual meeting. Through a computer or tablet, participants are able to see the Financial Consultant as they talk, and the consultant can share information on their screen to create an experience very similar to a traditional face-to- face meeting.  to schedule an appointment.

Schedule a virtual group visit

In previous years, more than 2,500 students have come to WSU through a group visit to campus, and for many students a group visit is their introduction to 麻豆破解版 State. During this time where virtual visits are the only option for students to 鈥渟ee鈥� campus, the Office of Admissions is excited to extend a group visit opportunity to high schools and community colleges.

During a virtual group visit, students will hear from an admissions representative covering admissions requirements, financial aid and scholarship information, and the latest and greatest news coming from 麻豆破解版 State.

Members of Student Ambassador Society and the Shocker Navigators will join in to answer questions about student life, and show various areas of campus through the virtual tour on the university website.

Adaptable art students launch Design Zoo exhibit

When 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 graphic design students conceptualized the theme of adaptability for their senior show, they had no idea how much they鈥檇 need to embrace that notion.

鈥淓very year at the end of the year, seniors have a show,鈥� said Irma Puskarevic, visiting professor of graphic design. This year鈥檚 show was scheduled to display in WSU鈥檚 ShiftSpace Gallery, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed all that: 鈥淭his year they had to do it online.鈥�

The result: Design Zoo, where for at least 30 minutes, the 21 artists of Design Zoo will be live and streaming to talk and interact with the audience about their work, 鈥渁s if they would if this were a real gallery,鈥� Puskarevic said.

Design Zoo will be presented online at 6 p.m. Friday, May 1, on the  and Instagram pages.

Test-Retest of the SWAY Mobile Application: Telemedicine Approach

Purpose of the study: To assess the accuracy of the balance, reaction time and cognitive assessment modules of the SWAY mobile application through a telemedicine approach using virtual Zoom meetings and a SMART device.

Procedures: Participants balance, reaction time, and cognitive function will be tested using the SWAY application using a SMART device and receiving instruction through a virtual zoom session.

Time: Participation will include three separate sessions placed one week apart. Each weekly session is expected to last about 30 minutes.

To the stars, student defies odds

Just 10 percent of aerospace engineering majors are female. Black women make up less than a fraction of a percent in the field. Khristian Jones is undeterred by the odds. She aspires to be an astronaut.

鈥淎s an eighth grader, I knew that I was talented in math and science, had a love for space and wanted to be a part of the space community,鈥� Jones said. 鈥淚 just had to figure out a way to put those things together.鈥�

Her research led her to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering at 麻豆破解版 State University. It represented a big change from her hometown of Chicago, but she鈥檚 adjusted to the smaller city.
