AAC Career Fair

Oct. 21, 2021 - The Shocker Career Accelerator organized the AAC Virtual Career Fair on Oct. 28 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.). All 11 full members of the American Athletic Conference will participate (although the event is not connected to the athletic departments or conference).

Oct. 20, 2021 鈥 While Lauryn McIntyre, who is majoring in marketing with a minor in personal selling, is growing out of her comfort zone in her internship, she isn鈥檛 doing it without support. That is the key feature to the applied learning model used by Shocker Career Accelerator to match 麻豆破解版 State students with industry partners in a way that invests time in building a relationship that helps both parties.

Louisa Brunt

Oct. 11, 2021 - Louisa Brunt, from Manchester, England, transferred to 麻豆破解版 State from Texas Tech University to golf and to earn her master鈥檚 degree in criminal justice. Brunt graduated from Texas Tech, where she earned Academic All-Big 12 honors three times, with a major in criminology and a minor in forensic science. Brunt expects her career path to take her into police work or the FBI.

Sept. 22, 2021 鈥 What started as one woman鈥檚 passion project has flourished into a literacy empire that serves thousands of children in schools across the 麻豆破解版 area 鈥 helped along the way by the people and services of 麻豆破解版 State University.

Oct. 16, 2021 - Later this fall, pickleball becomes permanent on campus at the Heskett Center鈥檚 Outdoor Sports Complex. 聽When it became necessary to resurface six tennis courts, John Lee, director of Campus Recreation, decided to do something different. The complex will feature four pickleball courts, two courts for tennis and two existing courts for half-court basketball and one for futsal.聽

Woolsey Hall

Sept. 13, 2021 - Student feedback helped guide the design of Frank and Kay Woolsey Hall. They asked for collaboration, and they asked for caffeine. Woolsey Hall, the new home for the W. Frank Barton School of Business, is 30 to 40 percent finished and expected to be complete in late spring 2022 and ready for summer 2022 classes.

Sept. 8, 2021 鈥 WERX at 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) has received its first Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft. As part of its rapidly growing Maintenance Repair and Overhaul program, WSU-NIAR WERX, in conjunction with Kansas Modification Center, will convert the passenger aircraft into a freighter that will be transferred to an external client to meet the growing needs of the e-commerce and express cargo market.

Aug. 23, 2021 - Casey Ratzlaff, a 麻豆破解版 State University senior majoring in sport management, will compete in the Tokyo Paralympics Games beginning Aug. 27, at Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo.聽

Aug. 18, 2021 鈥 The Department of Defense (DoD) has designated South Kansas as a Defense Manufacturing Community (DCM), making the region eligible for $5 million through the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation鈥檚 Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program. Aug. 5, 2021 - Aliphine Tuliamuk is 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 greatest female track and field athlete and the owner of 13 NCAA All-American honors in track and cross country. She is also an Olympian, a new mother (daughter Zoe was born Jan. 13) and an athlete willing to speak out on important issues. Recently, she is lending her voice and example to advocate for female athletes who compete as mothers.

Aug. 2, 2021 鈥 The marquee exterior fixture of the W. Frank Barton School of Business鈥 new home, Wayne and Kay Woolsey Hall, has been officially named the Promise Bridge. The 300-foot-long pedestrian bridge will span a water feature south of the building.

July 9, 2021 - John Wise, 麻豆破解版 State University assistant director of track and field, documents his love of history, travel and frozen soft drinks in 鈥淭ravel With a Wiseguy鈥 on YouTube. He posts a video weekly, many from trips around Kansas to visit small towns, ghost towns and places such as Old Oxford Mill and Little Jerusalem.

June 30, 2021 -- The U.S. Air Force is launching a new program with 麻豆破解版 State University鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) to make a digital replica of the F-16 Fighting Falcon in an effort to improve the sustainment and modernization of F-16s operating around the world.
