Today we honor a man who helped changed the course of history. A man who bravely fought for what was right. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led the American Civil Rights Movement for about 13 years and is regarded as one of the greatest nonviolent advocates of racial equality in our country鈥檚 history. Largely due to Dr. King鈥檚 work, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965).
