Overview
Abigail Baeten is the Band Director at Derby North Middle School where she teaches 6th-8th grade bands, jazz band and assists with the bands at Derby High School. Prior to this, Abigail spent 4 years in Clay Center, KS as the 5-12 assistant band director. She holds a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State University. While at OU, Abigail directed the New Horizons Band, supervised student teachers, assisted music education courses and presented at OkMEA, IMTE, and the biannual NAfME research conference. Outside of school Abigail is an active performer and private instructor for oboe in the 麻豆破解版 area.
Abigail was honored with the 2019 Horizon Award and the 2024 Kansas Bandmasters Association Outstanding Young Bandmasters Award. She is an active member of KMEA, KBA and enjoys playing oboe with the 麻豆破解版 Wind Symphony. Abigail currently lives in 麻豆破解版 with her husband Jake and their two dogs, Manni and Sal.
