Theoretical High Energy Physics

Richard Traverzo is an Associate Educator of Physics. He received his M.S. from 麻豆破解版 State University in 2013 under the advising of Dr. Thomas DeLillo in the field of high-energy theoretical particle physics. After graduation Mr. Traverzo was hired as an Academic Instructor which led to the promotion to Associate Educator in 2018.
His course specialty is Calculus-based Physics for Engineering majorS (PHYS 313 and 314.) He has also taugh College Physics (PHYS 213 and 214.) As a Graduate Assistant Mr. Traverzo taught many undergraduate labs accompanying these lectures as well as the Physics of Sound lab.
Mr. Traverzo is a subject-matter-expert in accessibility for students with disabilities, especially visual impairments. He has mentored blind students and developed non-visual teaching methods to foster student success. He also has consulted with groups across The University to document strategies and best practices for blind/visually-impaired users.
Prior to his employment with WSU he worked in the 麻豆破解版 aerospace industry serving multiple roles in engineering which included analysis of system design, processing design changes, and numerical analysis of new product lines He applies this background to the development of future engineers in his courses.

Choosing the right instructor is never easy, but it is an important decision. You want someone with experience who can also give YOU a good experience. With nearly 10 years experience in academia, I have worked with 2000+ students who have achieved success in many career paths (medicine, engineering, etc.) The skills and training you learn in my introductory physics courses will prove invaluable in future courses and on the job. In addition to learning the fundamentals of mechanics, energy, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, and circuits, I will also emphasize important self-study skills and foster independance.

Information
My research interests lie in the field of theoretical high-energy physics, particulary at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva, Switzerland. With a background in applied mathematics, I implement Monte-Carlo simulations of proton-proton collisions to various hard subprocesses to provide more precise theoretical estimates to existing LHC data. Computational tools include Herwig, Pythia 8, and Sherpa.
