Overview

Greg joined the Heartland Environmental Justice Center in 2024 as a Community Engagement Coordinator for Tribal Communities. Greg is from the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and Iowa and has worked and traveled to many reservations within the U.S. and Canada. He is a traditional dancer and enjoys time with family and friends in his home on the reservation.

With 22 years of military service and 32 years of working in federal government, Greg has had the opportunity to travel abroad, working with tribes all over the nation on environmental and energy issues. He has also worked at the state government level as a project manager.

At home on the reservation, he participates at the local dances and celebrations and is a member of the Native Veterans group in supporting community activities.

His earlier years were spent in Lincoln, Nebraska, but he has been involved in local Native issues in most communities he has lived in. Working for U.S. EPA in San Francisco, Nevada, and Denver gave him the opportunity to work and live with Tribes and Tribal communities. While working for the Department of Energy, he was involved in the Tribal community in Washington State.

Greg also served his reservation as Chief of Tribal Operations and on Tribal Council as Vice Chairman. As an elected official and staff, he has working knowledge of the processes of Tribal Government.

Greg is a father of six children and twelve grandchildren with his wife Melanie.
