New features launched for wichita.edu

The 麻豆破解版 State University website has launched several new features in response to input gathered from President Golden, students, faculty and staff.

Among the changes are:

  • A new secondary navigation including student-facing links.
  • A new Faculty/Staff directory that is integrated with WSU Profiles links.
  • A new front page research feature.
  • A Shocker Store link in the footer.

Secondary Navigation

The new secondary navigation is visible at the top of the every wichita.edu page in desktop view. It contains links to President Golden's Leadership Team, the Office of Research, WSU Foundation, and directories, but also features two high-traffic links for students in myWSU and OneStop. In addition, there's new Shocker Store logo in the footer on all pages.

Directories

The Web Collaboration Team -- comprising personnel from Strategic Communications, the Media Resources Center and Information Technology Services -- has completed an upgrade to the public-facing Faculty/Staff Directory feature to take advantage of the new design and the new WSU Profiles feature.

The new interface features a single universal search box that allows to search names, titles, departments, phone numbers, and/or email addresses. Add as much information in the search box as you need to refine the search and find who you're looking for.

Best of all, the search feature is integrated with WSU Profiles so that whenever a new profile is created, it will automatically be linked in the directory search results. Faculty and Staff who have launched a WSU Profile page will have an underline beneath their name. You can even choose to search selected fields within the WSU Profiles to find faculty and staff by expertise or academic and research interests.

Coming this spring ...

Offices and Departments Directory

This spring we'll continue to add to the directories pages with a new Offices and Departments Directory that provides phone, mailing address and website links for all our departments.

WSU Today rework

A reworked WSU Today will be launched this spring in two stages. First, we will add categories to the existing design to make navigating WSU Today easier, with direct links in the notification email to a set of featured stories. Later, we will move all of our internal newsletters into a new blog-style display that will allow for individual item sharing on social media and email and allow a more robust tagging structure.

WSU Profiles expansion

We'll also be engaging in a push to increase adoption of WSU Profiles, currently at 900 entries, to help us create new targeted applications for the media and to support Convergent Research and offices across campus.
