Starting college can be scary, I GET IT! It can be nerve-racking, especially if you are moving to a new city, or you鈥檙e a first-gen student, and on top of that, you鈥檙e finally on your own for the first time in your life. Then you start thinking about how you should factor in trying to find a job that fits in with your school schedule. I know it can feel very overwhelming at first. But do not stress, 麻豆破解版 State is on your side! I can assure you of this from my own experience.
WSU works very hard to provide students with all the help and support that they need to find a job that works best for them, many of them being on campus!
Shocker Career Accelerator (SCA) is a dedicated department full of individuals who want you to succeed. SCA helps students prepare for and find accessible jobs. They do this by working with a software called Handshake, a platform dedicated solely to helping college students connect with departments and industry partners both on and off campus.
I was lucky enough to score not only one but two on-campus jobs! Both of my roles lie within the Office of Admissions! My primary job is with the Student Engagement Team, and I LOVE MY JOB. I get to work admissions events, interact with prospective students, provide information to schools, and get to work with some of the best staff ever! My other job as a Transfer Guide is a little bit different. This job is more focused on serving transfer groups, I get to serve on student panels, tell other students about my experience and hopefully encourage them to become Shockers!
SCA and Handshake also helped provide me with an opportunity to find the internship I took part in this summer. Without them, I would never have known about the internship and I would never had the opportunity to apply for it, let alone get an interview and then get the job!
