All-around rockstar, Claire Pomeroy, is our next feature for #Humansof鶹ƽState!

Claire is an active member of Student Ambassador Society and Greek life, and she also works as a Shocker Navigator giving tours to prospective students and their families.

Claire is an Art Education student from 鶹ƽ with a passion for helping students tap into their creative abilities. Claire loves learning new art mediums that she will be able to use in her future classroom. Outside of school she loves to practice photography, painting and ceramics.

Claire said that Ted Adler, her ceramics professor, has had a profound impact on her life.

“Ted is so passionate about teaching and helping everyone lean into the peace they can find through ceramics,” Claire said. “He is so patient and always quick to encourage me when I am doubting my skills.”

Claire’s favorite part of 鶹ƽ State are the people she’s met during her time here. She appreciates the small class sizes and the opportunities to experience hands-on learning all the time.

When Claire first started at 鶹ƽ State, she wasn’t 100% sure what she wanted to study.

“My biggest challenge during my time at WSU has been finding a major for me,” Claire said. “But with the help of my advisors and the staff in the Admissions Office, I discovered a major that is setting me up for a joyful future filled with teaching students to love art as much as I do.”

Claire’s biggest piece of advice for incoming freshmen is to figure out what you love and what you’re passionate about. Once you narrow this down, you can discover the major and career path that align with your passions the best.

Additionally, Claire believes advocating for your education will allow you to get the most out of it.

“This is YOUR college experience,” Claire said. “Step into the amazing opportunities that are given to you!”

鶹ƽ State has helped Claire truly step into her full potential and realize new strengths and passions she has. 鶹ƽ State has undoubtedly shaped Claire into the wonderful person she is today!
