About Me
Major: Pre-dental/health sciences
Meet Sesho Phafong! She was born in California and raised in Derby since the age of five. She is part of a large family of ten. As the third youngest, Sesho holds the distinct honor of being the first in the family to graduate from high school. Initially majoring in pre-dental hygiene, Sesho switched to pre-dental/health sciences.
When she not studying, Sesho's passions include creating art, expressing individuality through vibrant clothing, volunteering, and making people laugh. This blend of dedication to health sciences, creativity, and community service highlights Sesho's potential as a future leader.
Going through life and learning that I wanted to do more for myself and the people around me played a big factor in returning to school. Also, recognizing that it is a privilege to be able to receive and continue my education at any age played a big part in my return.
A short-term goal of mine is to make the most out of each day by trying my best and spreading kindness. A long-term goal of mine is to make sure I finish school so that I can use my knowledge and kindness to educate and take care of individuals who need help.
The most challenging thing about my educational journey was battling thoughts of being too old to work on my education. But I have quickly learned that age is just a number, and it is never too late to learn!
The ways I contribute to the community and those around me are by volunteering, sharing any goods/resources I have, and making sure to be supportive of those in need.
My advice is, we have many years of experience in real life situations and communicating compared to many young adults who are just entering college. Therefore, we should not fear speaking up and asking for guidance to get the best educational experience we can. I also think it is important to use our wealth in knowledge and life to guide young people who surround us. This allows both adult learners and young learners to progress as a whole.
