The field of text technologies combines scholarly study with creative production and public-facing research on analog and digital media. The study of English has traditionally focused on reading printed texts on paper. A minor in text technologies from 鶹ƽ State explores how the notion of "text" is much more, and constantly changing, from Roman tablets to Incan quipu to film to voice memos to iPads. In this innovative program, the humanities and technology converge to explore the past, present, and future of the written word. The minor offers an expansive definition of what it means to "read" a "text."
