NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES
Over the last week, the Honors College collaborated with the Office of Admissions to host Honors in Action. Typically, this program is held in-person and students get to learn about the Honors College, tour labs and facilities, eat brunch at Shocker Dining, engage with current students and participate in a hands-on activity with the University Innovation Fellows. This year, we split the event into two virtual programs. There were 89 students in attendance at the first program and they learned about the benefits to joining the Honors College and the exciting things happening on campus, got the chance to ask questions of our Honors Ambassadors and heard from some of our Honors faculty about ways to engage in research. During the second program, 33 students heard from alumnus Dr. James Blakemore about his Honors experience and the continued benefits to him today, and they participated in an interactive design thinking session with the University Innovation Fellows.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these programs a success including Dr. Moriah Beck, Dr. Nils Hakansson, Dr. James Blakemore, Honors Ambassadors and the University Innovation Fellows. Special thanks to the Office of Admissions for their continued partnership on this event and in particular, Julian Liby, for helping co-plan the programs and Kayla Jasso, Chandra Cralle and Bobby Gandu for answering questions and providing information to attendees during the program.
