Happy International Women's Day from Women of WSU
Happy International Women's Day! Here is a little 麻豆破解版 State women's history story for you to help commemorate 麻豆破解版 State's 125th anniversary this year. The Women of 麻豆破解版 State University (WWSU) was formed on July 1, 2018 with the merger of two organizations; Women's Association (WA) formed in 1928 and Council of University Women (CUW) formed in 1930. Each organization was established to foster fellowship and friendliness among the female faculty, faculty wives and staff while raising funds for scholarships for female students and WWSU continues with this tradition by encouraging and supporting women of all backgrounds.
Both WA and CUW have established endowed general scholarships for non traditional female students which continue to be awarded each year. In continuing with its philanthropic mission, WWSU established a third scholarship to be awarded annually to non-traditional female graduate or undergraduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA and enrolled in at least six credit hours per semester. Watch for information about these scholarships after our annual fundraiser to be held in late March.

Effective time and priority management is a skill all students need
Time management will always be one of the biggest challenges for all college students. Managing priorities, sticking to a new study schedule, juggling multiple life roles and trying to meet all academic deadlines can become overwhelming. Students can find tips and resources on how to better manage their time in the Time Management section on the Student Success website. If students need assistance, they can contact their Success Coach.
Nominate a 麻豆破解版 State phenomenal woman
We are excited to kick off Women's History Month with the 麻豆破解版 State Office of Diversity and Inclusion's 13th annual Phenomenal Women Award program. The Phenomenal Women Award recognizes women for their accomplishments and contributions to our community through their scholarship, activism and commitment to excellence. Individuals are encouraged to nominate women who have made a difference in their lives.

Cadman Art Gallery: 'Sharing Our Stories'
"Sharing Our Stories" is a show that features anonymously submitted stories of sexual trauma. Many people who encounter sexual trauma haven't felt safe enough to speak about their pain. Artist Linda Humphreys' aims to honor these individuals by creating experiences that center around consent, control, and bodily autonomy.
Humphreys is a graduate student in Art, Design, and Creative Industries pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. "Sharing Our Stories" is on exhibit through March 12 in the Cadman Gallery on the first floor of the RSC.
Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and engineering collaborate to improve child鈥檚 communication
Students and faculty at the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic have teamed up with the College of Engineering to help a 9-year-old child communicate effectively. The group developed and printed 3D objects to help the child communicate better.

Service-Learning Showcase seeks submissions
The Service-Learning Showcase is a unique opportunity for students who participate in service-learning through applied learning opportunities to showcase their experience through a research or reflective poster about the application of their course work to current community issues. This year the showcase will be held in a digital format and judged by a team of community partner leaders.
The showcase is an open forum for students to interact with faculty/staff, community partners and other students to engage in conversation about 麻豆破解版 State University's commitment to the public good. Awards are presented in the following categories:
- Outstanding Overall Service-Learning Project 鈥� $150 scholarship to winning entry
- Innovation and Creativity in Problem Solving 鈥� $100 scholarship to winning entry
- Community Impact/ Community Choice 鈥� $100 scholarship to winning entry
- Collaboration and Leadership in Service-Learning 鈥� $100 scholarship to winning entry
Submissions are due on April 1.

Each year, Academic Affairs supports Faculty Fellows in a variety of areas. Faculty have the opportunity to learn new skills and serve our students in different ways through these fellowships. Entries now open for 2021 Edible Book Festival
Edible Book Festival is back! University Libraries invites all to join in on this culinary creation contest for a chance to win great local prizes. Enter online by April 1 at . There you can find contest rules and entry photos from previous contests.
Basic rules are as follows:
- This virtual event features contestants creating edible art based on their favorite literature.
- Four prizes will be given 鈥� three based on judging and one on a popular vote.
- Once created, contestants can upload photos to our website by April 1.
- Anyone can then vote for the People's Choice winner April 5-8.
- Winners will take home prizes announced April 9.

University Libraries Undergraduate Research Award
Attention, 麻豆破解版 State faculty and staff: Do you know an undergraduate entering URCAF who has made good use of University Libraries resources? Encourage them to apply for the inaugural University Libraries Undergraduate Research Award competition. Prizes will be awarded: $250 for first place, $200 for second place, and $150 for third place.
Faculty Senate: Call for nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for two university-wide at-large seats for the Faculty Senate to serve a two-year term starting in the 2021-22 academic year. University-wide at-large Senators represent the faculty of the entire university, not just a specific college or division. The Senate meets twice a month during the regular academic year from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month.
All faculty are eligible for nominations including current senators whose term expires this year. Please submit your nominations to Lee Ann Birdwell at leeann.birdwell@wichita.edu before midnight on Wednesday, March 10. Self-nominations are strongly encouraged. Your participation is essential to a fair and inclusive process of shared governance.

Ulrich Virtual to host Kansas photographer Doug Barrett
Photographer, videographer, and journalist Doug Barrett uses his camera to document our contemporary struggles with social justice in Kansas and the U.S. Inspired by the work of legendary photographer (and Ft. Scott, Kansas-native) Gordon Parks, Barrett, who is based out of Manhattan, Kansas, has focused recent projects on the protests following the death of George Floyd, the Mexico border wall, homeless veterans in the U.S., and Yuma Street in Manhattan, Kansas, among others.
Barrett will be the Ulrich Museum of Art's guest for a virtual talk titled "Weapons of Choice" at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9. The talk is free and open to all, but registration is required to get the Zoom link.
You can also catch Barrett on the Ulrich website leading a video tour of the current exhibition, "Gordon Parks: I, too, am America." Not only does Barrett comment in-depth on some of the Parks photographs, he also shares several of his own.
Barrett's photographs have been published in Bloomberg News, TIME Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, Washington Post, New Territory Magazine, The Pointe Magazine, and featured on the Nasdaq billboard in Times Square, VICE, Fox News, and BBC World News. He is the owner of 400 North Creative in Manhattan, Kansas.
