Staff Virtual Town Hall set for Friday, Jan. 29
A live YouTube virtual staff town hall will be held from 3-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29.
This is an opportunity to hear and interact with Interim President Rick Muma and Interim
Executive Vice President and Provost Shirley Lefever. The event will be moderated
by presidents of the UP and USS Senates.
Staff wanting to participate are encouraged to do so during the live YouTube stream.

RSC, Shocker Dining opening soon; SSGL expanding weekend hours
The Rhatigan Student Center will be back open for full dining starting Jan. 28. Shocker Dining opens back up Jan. 30. In addition, the Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes (SSGL) will be expanding operating hours on Fridays and Saturdays this semester, staying open until 10 p.m. In addition, on Fridays and Saturdays, they will be offering cosmic bowling from 5-10 p.m. at the low rate of $2.50 per person per game.
Estate gift will endow scholarship in the WSU School of Nursing
The WSU Foundation has received a gift of $475,000 from the trusts of Charlotte Foster and her son, Brian Foster, to create a scholarship in the School of Nursing in 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 College of Health Professions.
Upon her death in 2018, Charlotte Foster was retired from her position as a secretary in 麻豆破解版 Public Schools. Brian Foster worked in food service and loved to garden and read. He died in August 2020.
The Charlotte Foster and Brian Foster Nursing Scholarship will serve as a tribute to the Fosters and their appreciation for the impact of nursing education at WSU.
鈥淟egacy gifts are an excellent way for donors to express their confidence in the future of the students and programs at 麻豆破解版 State,鈥 said Michael Lamb, vice president with the WSU Foundation.
Call for presentations; save the date for virtual Gender & Sexuality in Kansas Conference
The call for presentations for the 8th Annual interdisciplinary Gender & Sexuality in Kansas Conference (to be held virtually Friday, March 12) is now open. More information and the CFP link is available at wichita.edu/genderconference.
Students, faculty, staff and other interested scholars from any discipline should submit a 200-300 word summary of your proposed presentation including topic/research questions, methodology and a summary of findings or main themes to be addressed in the presentation. Presenters may consist of individuals or groups. All submissions should consist of original research or scholarship related to gender and/or sexuality.
Presentation formats: Traditional oral presentations [15-20 minutes] include a visual aid of some sort (power point, video, poster). Workshop/trainings may be longer and include an identified learning outcome with an interactive component.
The deadline for submissions: Friday, Feb. 5
Spread the word: We hope that you will consider submitting a proposal and share information about the conference with your students, colleagues and others across campus or 麻豆破解版 community who may be interested.

SGA scholarships now open
The Student Government Association is excited to open its annual scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year. Each year SGA awards about $80,000 to students on campus through four scholarships:

- International Student Scholarship
- SGA Endowed Scholarship
- SGA Summer Scholarship

This highly competitive honor is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, involvement at WSU and service to WSU and the surrounding community. Do you need help filing taxes? While we can't do it for you, we can guide you through the process. The Office for Student Money Management in Student Success partners with Best Coalition from the United Way to offer this free service to support faculty, staff and students.

The Office of Adult Learning is putting on a Back to School Giveaway. Faculty, staff and students can enter the giveaway by responding to and commenting on the Thankful Thursday Facebook post on Jan. 28, on our Shocker Pathway page.
