Human Resources and ITS partner to develop automated notification of new employees
To improve the experience for new employees, and to create a consistent process and service delivery, Human Resources and ITS have partnered to develop an automated notification that goes to ITS when we have a new employee. In the new process, an ITS ticket is created automatically in the ITS ticketing system (TDX) for new employees and IT will provide the following services:
- Create email address and email box
- Setup computer equipment
- Setup telecommunications services

When a new employee鈥檚 information, including supervisor data, is entered into Banner, an ITS ticket is created up to 60 days prior to the start date. If the supervisor information is not contained in the employee鈥檚 Banner record, an ITS ticket is created 15 days prior to the employee鈥檚 start date.
The supervisor or department contact, if no supervisor information is available, is then notified via TDX of the ticket creation and status. This automated process is in place for faculty, staff, lecturers, and temporary employees. It is not applicable to student employment or graduate assistantship positions, or to students / grads moving into a lecturer or temporary position without a break in service.
ITS requires up to one week to create an email address and email box for employees, and up to two weeks to set up computer equipment and telecom services. It is important for departments to complete the steps required in the new hire process in a timely manner to allow the automated process to occur as early as possible. This enables ITS to provide prompt service, which results in a better experience for our employees.
The automated process is now in place. Any questions about the process or status of a ticket should be directed to the ITS Help Desk at 978-4357 or helpdesk@wichita.edu.

Announcing New Leader Orientation at WSU!
Human Resources has launched New Leader Orientation (NLO) at 麻豆破解版 State University! Similar to New Employee Orientation, which began in January 2017, this program is designed to orient new leaders (individuals with direct reports) to the university, or those new to a leader position within the university, to what they need to know about WSU in order to successfully lead people here.
New leaders will learn about tools and resources available to them and how to access them. This program is designed to introduce them to high impact areas within the University and learn about what is going on. Additionally, they will network with other new leaders and have opportunities to discuss similar questions or issues.
NLO is conducted in cohort style over a three-month period, and is constructed in module format. The orientation is comprised of 28 hours of in-class instruction (one full day and five 陆 days). All new leaders will receive an Outlook invitation during the first few months in their new role with a full agenda and detailed information. Managers of new leaders will also receive communication if they have a direct report that will be attending NLO.
What about existing leaders at WSU? In order to ensure all existing leaders have the opportunity for comparable training, they will have the option to register in myTraining for open training courses featured in NLO.
The myTraining courses are open to all current WSU employees (faculty and staff) and are scheduled to occur throughout the year. The myTraining link is available through the faculty/staff tab in myWSU. For more information, go to wichita.edu/NLO.
