Student-Athlete Success Center moves forward
A plan to build a new Student-Athlete Success Center and renovate parts of Charles Koch Arena is moving forward.
麻豆破解版-based construction firm Hutton has been awarded for the $10.4 million contract for the 麻豆破解版 State University project.
The WSU project has two main components. The largest is construction of the Student-Athlete Success Center, a 36,000-square-foot facility devoted to the academic and athletic development of students in WSU鈥檚 sports programs. The two-level building, to be located just south of Charles Koch Arena, will expand study and tutoring spaces. WSU鈥檚 track and cross country programs will also move to the new facility.
Third business dean candidate to visit campus April 8-9
Daniel Goebel, dean and professor of marketing, The W.A. Franke College of Business, Northern Arizona University, will visit 麻豆破解版 State as a dean candidate for the Barton School of Business on Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to a public forum at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, in 204 Clinton Hall. Information is also available on the Academic Affairs website.
Come to the Airbus + WSU Innovation Fair on April 16
The spring Airbus+WSU Innovation Fair will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Airbus Americas, Inc. 1855 Innovation Blvd. in the Airbus atrium.
The purpose of the fair is to bring together WSU innovation partners, students, staff and faculty together to learn more about the various innovative resources on campus in a marketplace fair setting.
Service-Learning Faculty Training coming April 12
Are you interesting incorporating service-learning into a course? Want to hear tips and tricks from your colleagues? Please join us for the spring service-learning training from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, April 12, in 233 RSC.
The morning will begin with a brief overview of service-learning course integration and best practices, before moving into brief roundtable discussions, and concluding with an informational poster fair featuring our 2018-19 Service-Learning Scholars courses and service-learning projects. Additionally, the United Way of the Plains and VolunteerICT will be present to share resources on connecting to local community partners and needs. Breakfast will be served. WSU Weekly Briefing to feature College of Engineering senior Chelsea Sewell
The WSU Weekly Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Marcus Welcome Center. The featured speaker will be Chelsea Sewell explaining how she and a 麻豆破解版 State team created a robotic 3D-printed hand for a local boy.

Innovation Fellow brings STEAM education to children
Christian Ammerman, Secondary English Education and English Literature Arts major, was recently recognized as a University Innovation Fellow.
Stanford University鈥檚 Hasso Plattner Institute of Design recognizes students from across the country every year to be a part of this prestigious national program, and this year there are six from WSU. The program seeks to empower these students to be leaders and increase campus engagement, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Added language in regards to the university鈥檚 official mailing address. The university has assigned street addresses to buildings for way-finding and emergency purposes which cannot be used for mail service. The USPS will not deliver to a business address unless there is a cluster mailbox or mailroom. In order for university mail to reach our mailroom, departments must use the official address of 1845 Fairmount, plus the Zip+4, as stated in the requested revision. Added language is shown under III. D and III. E. Recommended by Ellen Abbey and Michael Sperlazza in consultation with the United States Postal Service.
Shaw receives 2019 Distinguished Scholar Award from international association
Carolyn Shaw was honored last week in Toronto by the International Studies Association Active Learning Section with the 2019 Distinguished Scholar Award. This award is given not just to a nominee who is an outstanding teacher, but one whose pedagogical scholarship and professional engagement promote excellence in others.
Shaw has 11 refereed pedagogical publications, has served as a facilitator for 11 teaching workshops in three countries, has served as the editor for the Active Learning section鈥檚 thirteen Compendium articles, and has held 12 different officer or committee leadership positions in the International Studies Association.

It is a unique opportunity for students who participate in service-learning through applied learning opportunities to showcase their experience through a research or reflective poster about the application of their course work to current community issues.
The showcase is an open forum for students to interact with faculty, staff, community partners and other students to engage in conversation about WSU鈥檚 commitment to the public good.
