Tip of the Day: Creating buttons One of the many features of the new content management system that wasn't available in Department Tools is the ability to easily create buttons. Buttons are executed in the same interface you use to create links. Just highlight the link/button text and click the link icon in the toolbar or right-click and select insert/edit link. (If you're creating a button that links to an email address, use the envelope icon instead. That will add a "mailto:" command that will open a preaddressed email message with a preset subject line in the users' chosen email platform). After you provide the target URL, you can also add a tooltip, visible when the user hovers over the link or button, that can be more explicit than the link text (hover over the button below to see this effect). Next, use the Class pulldown to set the style. The default is simply a link in paragraph style, but, scrolling toward the bottom of the list, you'll see a number of button options, beginning with the Default style, black to yellow. Make a selection and click "OK" to set the button. To edit the button, just right-click on it and choose "Insert/Edit Link" |
