The ability to 鈥渟ee something, say something鈥� at 麻豆破解版 State just got easier through a partnership with Crime Stoppers of 麻豆破解版/Sedgwick County and Rave Mobile Safety, a free app that turns any iPhone or Android smartphone into a personal safety device.
Crime Stoppers uses a secure and anonymous tip acquisition and management solution called P3 Intel. It allows Crime Stoppers to receive anonymous tips which are then passed along to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Rave Guardian was introduced to WSU in fall 2016 and provides the ability to contact police and other emergency services, as well as send tips directly to university police. By using the P3 link, tips can more quickly be sent to the correct agency 鈥� and not just university police.
Tips submitted through the P3 mobile app also allow images, video and documents to be uploaded with the tip, still completely anonymous.
When tips result in an arrest, tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.
Even without the app, there is an easy and secure option for submitting tips from any PC or mobile browser by going to and clicking the 鈥渟ubmit a tip鈥� icon.
Of course, tips are still welcomed through calling the hotline 316- 267-2111. Using whichever method, once a person submits a tip, they will be given a TIP ID and password. With this information they can login at and submit follow-up information, engage in real-time chat/two-way dialogue, be informed of the outcome of the tip and access any pertinent reward information.
With a population of approximately 16,600 students, faculty and staff, there are only 462 registered users of the Rave Guardian app itself. In times of emergency or concern, the WSU Guardian system can reach more than 20,000 people.
鈥淥ne goal of this partnership is to hopefully grow the number of users taking advantage of the free Rave Guardian app by providing yet another option to promote community safety,鈥� said Robert Hinshaw, University Police interim chief.
