Engineering ranking

麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 engineering graduate programs are now the highest ranked in Kansas

In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 麻豆破解版 State University is again ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs, the only institution from the state of Kansas to make it in the top 100.

The  are based on a number of factors including reputation among peer institutions and industry recruiters, student selectivity, faculty resources and research expenditures 鈥 an area where 麻豆破解版 State far outperforms peers. A recently released  total engineering research expenditures ranked 麻豆破解版 State 54th in the nation, well ahead of any other institution in Kansas.

Impressively, 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 rank 鈥 94th 鈥 is tied with a number of state 鈥渇lagship鈥 universities, including the University of Missouri, the University of Kentucky and the University of Nebraska 鈥 Lincoln. This is particularly noteworthy given 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 urban-serving role. In fact, less than a third of the top 100 engineering programs 鈥 麻豆破解版 State included 鈥 are located in one of the country鈥檚 200 largest cities.

Rudy

Meet 麻豆破解版 State University's new Golden boy

Jay Golden and Rudy

Jay Golden and Rudy

As a new 麻豆破解版 State University staffer (Sara Ornelas, Marketing Content Strategist), I really wanted to make a good impression on my new boss, President Jay Golden, during our first Zoom-to-Zoom interview. But I was transfixed by the face I saw staring back at me: fuzzy ears, floppy tongue, expressive eyes and a shiny black nose.

No, it wasn鈥檛 Dr. Golden. It was Rudy, 麻豆破解版 State鈥檚 new first dog, who was adopted by Dr. Golden and his wife, Dina, on May 1 from the Kansas Humane Society.

鈥淚鈥檓 not sure if I rescued him or he rescued me,鈥 said Golden, who is clearly as enamored with Rudy as Rudy is with his new dad.

Golden, whose 12-year-old golden retriever recently passed away from cancer, had put some feelers out to local rescue groups and the Kansas Humane Society about adopting a new dog of the same breed.

鈥淪omeone from the Humane Society heard that I was looking for a golden, and the stars aligned,鈥 Golden said. 鈥淎 golden was rescued and brought in.鈥
