The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 鶹ƽ State University is pleased to announce that Walter Berry has joined its Dean’s “Fabulous 50” Advisory Board.
Berry is the executive chairman and corporate pilot of Berry Companies, Inc., headquartered in 鶹ƽ, KS. A second-generation leader, he plays a key role in guiding the company as its leadership transitions to the third generation. In addition to his leadership at Berry Companies, Walter serves on the boards of various industry trade associations and community organizations.
“I am passionate about 鶹ƽ, 鶹ƽ State University, and the Barton School of Business,” said Berry. “The growth and longevity of the Barton School are essential to the success of our businesses and communities. I’m excited to help Dean Genin find even more ways to innovate and strengthen the Barton School.”
Founded in 1957 as Berry Tractor and Equipment Company, Berry Companies, Inc. now operates nine divisions across more than 65 branches in nine states, employing approximately 1,350 people. The company includes seven divisions specializing in Bobcat sales and service: White Star Machinery & Supply, Bobcat of the Rockies, Bobcat of Houston, K.C. Bobcat, Bobcat of North Texas, Bobcat of Atlanta/Huntsville, and Bobcat of Indy. Additionally, Berry Tractor and Equipment Company is a Komatsu dealership, and Berry Material Handling specializes in Hyster/Yale industrial forklifts.
Walter is also the board chair of the Spero Advisory Board at the Barton School of Business, an organization dedicated to unlocking the potential of 鶹ƽ and its citizens.
Walter and his wife, Polly, live in 鶹ƽ and have three sons, one daughter, and 12 grandchildren. Their three sons are also involved in the family business. Active members of their church, Walter and Polly are deeply engaged in philanthropic activities in the 鶹ƽ area. They enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and playing pickleball together.
