Kopita to retire after 10 years as vice president

Ron Kopita, vice president for campus life and university relations at 麻豆破解版 State University, has announced that he will retire shortly after the 2009 spring semester.

Kopita, who turns 65 next March, came to WSU in August 1999. When he retires, he will have completed 10 years as vice president and a 42-year career in higher education.

A national search will be conducted in the fall to fill the position.

"As I approach 65, I've reached the time in my life where I'd like to do more activities of a recreational nature and to spend time with my children and grandchildren who all live in Austin (Texas)," said Kopita.

Ron and his wife, Pearl, have two children and two grandchildren, and they plan to move to the Austin area next summer.
